Holiday Outfit

The holiday season is finally in full swing, which means lots of shopping, gift wrapping, baking cookies & running errands around town.  If you're like me, you want to be comfortable but still look stylish while getting those to-do items checked off your list.  And nothing beats a fun & festive knit this time of year!  I bought an ivory fair-isle sweater from Old Navy last December and nearly wore it out...so I was thrilled to see that they brought them back again & gave them a modern twist.  Today I'm sharing two ways to wear these cozy sweaters while you're out & about this winter.  I focused on casual pieces that you can wear any day of the week, but they would also be easy to dress up with tailored trousers (for work) or a sequin skirt (for parties).

I recently received an email from a reader requesting for me to feature more casual outfits.  Ironically, I feel like I've shown almost too many sweater + denim looks lately and was afraid I'd been alienating those of you who work in an office & have to dress up each day.  I always want this blog to be a careful balance of things I actually wear in real life & more polished office-ready ideas that help you utilize what you have in your closet.  But reader feedback is the ultimate gauge for me & I definitely want to tailor the content here on PPF so it's appealing to the masses.  That being said, I'd like to hear from all of you in the comments below - would you like to see more work appropriate ensembles or is it more helpful if I feature off-duty weekend looks like this one?  (P.S. This outfit would be even cuter with sneakers - I just couldn't bear the cold ankles!)

Grey Wrap Cardigan

This is without a doubt the most unique top I own!

I absolutely love how original it is. It’s a cute wrap top in front, and a long maxi cardigan in the back. I put this together on a chilly day, but I can see it being just as fun to style with a v-neck under and some flats for a more casual look. ALSO it is on sale on Groupdealz right now for half off, so it’s pretty much a no-brainer!

Is the week getting away from anyone else?! Already Wednesday, WHAT?! I have a to-do list a mile long, and yet I am SO tired all the time and lack all motivation to-do the to-do list! Does this happen to anyone else? Maybe it’s the weather, it’s finally getting really cold? Or maybe I need some extra sleep? I can’t figure it out. If anyone knows any remedies I am all ears, this homegirl has work to do!

That's A Wrap

Although I tend to favor structured blazers & tailored jackets pretty much year-round, there's something so cozy about oversized-style coats for fall that make you feel like you're wrapped up in your favorite blanket.  The big open collar & faux leather sleeves give this one a modern feel that's perfect for pairing with classic pieces like a crisp button-down, skinny jeans & cognac booties (which are deceivingly comfortable).

Love it to show colors

After falling in love with my Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette and I had been seriously eying the Naked and Naked2 palettes. I will admit it, $50 for a palette is spendy, but it is pretty worth it! The colors last forever! I seriously have barely dipped into any of the colors and I use either my Naked or Naked Basics palette every day. They are super pigmented and a little goes a very long way. If you don’t believe me, stop by Sephora sometime and give it a try, you’ll see!

All that being said, I am not a makeup artist. I’m a busy mom that tries her hardest not to look tired and frumpy all day. As soon as I brought home my new palette, you better believe I was all up on the Pinterest looking for tutorials to make the most of my new found wealth of high end eye shadows. Here are a few of my favorites!
So many of the tutorials you see for the Naked palette are really, really made up, fabulous smokey eyes. I love a good smokey eye, but smokey eye at work, or school or the park might look a little over done. I love this tutorial for simple, everyday glam using pretty golds.
If you are going for a great night time made up look, this is super pretty and fairly simple. I love YouTube video tutorials because you really get to watch the process step-by-step.

The Sound of Music

 Sporty and casual fun for this holiday spirit :) Just kidding but honestly this look is great for post holiday when you just want to be comfortable! Lace Noir

 Black lace is beautiful for fall and winter. It works well during the day with a leather or jean jacket and at night alone. And as you can see, I combined both bold eyes and lips for a more dramatic effect to match the dress :)

Green for this Winter

Merry Christmas Eve! Today I am sharing a festive look if you are still looking for outfit inspiration for the Holidays. I have had this romper for months and have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to wear it. It is the most gorgeous shade of green and I love the lace. I paired it with a double layer peplum coat and plaid scarf for a Holiday dinner this past weekend.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas! We have our annual Christmas Eve festivities tonight at my sisters and I can't wait! It is one of my favorite nights of the year. Wow, what a tough weekend! I had so many things to do which included shootings, I organized the upcoming moving (to be continued...) and applied for a lot of jobs in the city I'll live in... I can't wait to leave everything behind!
Anyway this is one of the outfits I wore during this week while spring decided to play hide and seek again. During the springtime I really enjoy wearing the combination of white skinnies and a bleached denim shirt. It looks so fresh and the denim makes the whole outfit even more casual and laid-back.

Winter in Black

 Hi, sweeties!

I must confess I’m going through a beautiful period of my life, right now.

It takes a lot of work, a lot of lost hours of sleep...and a few kilograms less,

but the fulfillment and satisfaction I feel makes it all worth it!

 I can’t believe this is the first time I’m wearing my „perfect coatˮ this year.

I love it so much, but I’m somehow terrified of wearing it when I have a lot of errands

to run. Why is that? I have the impression that I’m tearing everything down when

I move around. I am like the elephant in the china shop!

Of course I had to wear it with the black version of my full skirt, and my new shoe crush.

I just can’t wait to wear these babies with boyfriend jeans!

Fur Boots

I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas with your friends and families! We had LOTS of celebrations and had such much fun with family that got to come into town. We ventured off to Big Cedar last weekend for a little before Christmas getaway. We have done this a few times before Christmas and have enjoyed it every single time.

I wore this outfit to dinner one night while we were there. I love this plaid pencil skirt. Most pencil skirts fit me odd, but this one is cotton so it fit perfectly. I paired it with a cropped sweater and these adorable fur cuffed Marc Fisher boots. I love the pointed toe on them and how they make my look a bit more special. One thing I have learned about Marc Fisher shoes this year is that they are extremely comfortable too.

Tuesday night we had family beach pictures. One of my friends that takes Liv's monthly pics is vacationing 30 min from us and offered to shoot our entire crew! I wore this stunning Charlie Jade dress from Maude. Yall this dress.... I AM OBSESSED. I got this months ago and its been sitting pretty in my closet just begging to be worn. The colors, the way it flows, the fit.... its perfect. Olivia wore a gorgeous Stella McCartney white dress from 3 Monkeys and she looked like a little doll. We are having so much fun and I don't want this week to end!
