Stripes, Plaid, Leopard

Stripes, Plaid, Leopard
This look is a bit traditional in the sense I'm combining three prints that are commonly worn together this time of year (stripes, plaid, leopard), but I thought it would be fun to mix it up with some flare jeans that I don't wear often enough! I love this pair of "Love Story" jeans from J.Brand. I've had mine for more than four years and the style is still available (which tells me a picked a style with staying power). I highly recommend them if you too are wanting to mix things up from the typical skinnies.

Still no snow, but this chunky scarf beats the frigid air.

Winter Puffer Coat

Winter Puffer Coat
I've been trying to find more creative ways to wear this striped shift dress this winter (purchased last summer at J.Crew Factory) and my "big puffy coat." Sometimes it's too cold to wear any other coat so I just had to find a chic (or "cool") way to rock the extra warmth. Now I have a new found love for beanies and mirrored aviators.

Hope you're staying warm out there!

Tularosa.

Tularosa.
Since the weather in LA is surprisingly warm and nice-mid 70’s- today, I thought I finally share some photos from Tulum when I visited back in November with the Lovers + Friends team! We enjoyed a fun 3 day beachy getaway filled with boat rides, taco tasting, and visiting the cenotes!

One of my favorite looks from the trip consisted of this super rad tribal print fringe jacket… I meaaaan, it was totally Tulum appropriate! The hint of color in my earrings added a nice mix to dress up the jacket!

I still have sooo much more photos from past trips, a couple more from Tulum, a diary post from Brasil, photos from Hawaii and a couple other ones.

Plus, you guys guess what??! My hard drive was fixed, FINALLY, so I have more photos on there that I need to share with you! I’m soooo happy they were able to recover most of my hard drive.. so stay tuned for those photos as well! yay!

Rag & Bone Plush Legging Jeans

Rag & Bone Plush Legging Jeans
Of all my jeans, these Rag & Bone plush leggings jeans may be my favorite. If we’re looking at fit, comfort, style and look, these take the cake. I’ve always been hesitant to buy legging jeans. Normally, I don’t love the skin tight look throughout or the faux front pockets, but these are different. The material is so incredibly soft, and they don’t really feel like jeans, but they don’t they feel like leggings either. I almost feel like you’re getting the best of both worlds. Aside from being comfortable, they’re also extremely flattering. They hug your legs tightly, but there’s some give around the knees and ankles. A lot of the reviews here say to size up, but I found my normal size fit perfectly.

If you’re in the market for a pair of true black jeans, I would 110% recommend these!

Please Get Well :: little Sammie & Gray skies

Please Get Well :: little Sammie & Gray skies
These photos were taken a few days ago, but if you can see me now I’m a total mess.  It’s really hard for me to think, so if you don’t mind, I’d like to share my thoughts as they come.  I’m not really thinking clearly right now.
January 23, Friday 9:47 pm:  My eyes are super puffy from crying and I miss my little Sammie so much!  A friend of mine sent me flowers to wish me well as I was recovering from a health issue.  I placed the flowers far away from Sammie, but this morning I saw spots of yellow on his face and legs.  I knew immediately it was the lilies.  I called our vet right away and rushed him to the emergency pet hospital, because ingestion of lilies can cause severe kidney failure in cats.  Sammie is currently being placed on IV fluids and treated for poison.  He needs to stay in the hospital for 48 hours.
January 24, Saturday 3:23 am:  Can’t sleep.  Editing Sammie pictures.  Walking around, cleaning up the loft again.  Every time I find a cat toy or see his cat beds, I fall apart.
January 24, Saturday 10:08 am:  In addition to my cleaning, I hired a cleaning crew to triple check and clean my loft again to make sure that there are no signs of pollen or anything that might be remotely poisonous to cats.
January 24, Saturday 3:30 pm:  Visited Sammie in the hospital.  Stayed with him for as long as possible before they took him away for more treatments.  The latter half of the visit made it very hard to leave.  All he wanted to do was to nap and cuddle on my lap.  Spoke with the veterinarian and she shared that he’s doing well.  His blood work and his kidneys are normal.  But we’re not in the clear yet.  The poison might still show after discharge and I have to bring him back in a week for more blood work.  If he throws up or becomes lethargic after being released, it’s a very very bad sign.  I plan to monitor him like a hawk for the next few weeks.
The first month Sammie was with me, I experienced pretty bad separation anxiety.  In the shower or before bed, I would cry at the thought of losing him.  It was very overwhelming.  Being in the hospital and signing standard waivers that mentioned resuscitation if his heart stops was extremely close to my nightmare.  I needed help finishing the forms because I couldn’t stop crying.
The hospital will call me later today for more updates and hopefully they’ll discharge him tonight.  I just want him home and heathy again.
Thank you so much for reading!  Wishing endless happiness and abundant health to you and all your family members, four-legged ones included!

New York Cool

New York Cool
I found this blazer at Barney's while shopping one of their major sales. It was 70% off, but also two sizes too large for me. After some debating (as always-in typical Libra fashion), I figured that with the help of a good tailor, it was worth getting. Fast forward to six months later, approximately two weeks ago, when I finally pulled it out of my "bring to tailor" pile and took care of business. Along with three other blazers and two pairs of pants, I turned a couple of blah pieces, feel like I just went on a major shopping spree. It felt so good to get these items back that now, fit me to a T.

The moral of my story, never underestimate  a good tailor! For example, look at this photo that my pal, Wendy, posted. Incredible, right?

Blanket Cape

Blanket Cape
Blanket capes have been everywhere this season.  I personally am a fan of this type of draped outerwear because it combines comfort & warmth, plus it gives a chic touch to neutral basics.  Truth be told, I've had this one for a while and am just getting around to sharing it here on the blog.  But, I've already worn it dozens of times - belted over a striped dress, thrown on with a chambray shirt & jeans...and I recently discovered that it's the ideal piece to wear when traveling (because it literally doubles as a blanket!).  The one I'm wearing here is currently on sale for just $30, but since I know these things sell out fast, I've included more affordable options below.
