Fuzzy/Furry Fashion Trend

Fuzzy/Furry Fashion Trend
Once we have done with Indian summers and the like, we will have to admit to the fact that the temperature is dropping. Even when it’s just the start and end of the day that causes us a slight shiver, proper clothes are called for.
That’s when we will be calling on something fuzzy and warm to wear. Whether it’s mohair, angora, alpaca, a blend, or anything else that does the job, it traps warm air without losing us any fashion points. It works for any occasion, and with just about any outfit.

Soft colours blend with the shades of autumn, and are flattering when our skins show the effects of frost or wind. Wear peach with pale trousers, or amber with maroon. Brighten up with woven motifs and logos, like the intarsia on Roberto Cavalli’s fuzzy sweaters for Fall 2014. Or follow Balmain and Richard Nicholl, by keeping it simple in pure white sweaters or coats, and team with printed pants.

Grab a lighter version for socialising, and opt for short sleeve sweaters, like Katy Perry, Lauren Conrad, and actor/blogger Ashley Madekwe, who topped a pastel pink patent leather pencil skirt with a white crop (believe us, it totally works!). Or pair a fuzzy top with shorts and opaque tights for another good evening look.

Mix textures; go for a knitted pattern, such as cable, or introduce stripes. Too much fluff might appear bulky, so break it up by using two blocks of colours. Stand out with a bright all-over design. Add a roll-neck to be extra snug, or make a statement with a cowl. Combine the style with another trend for fall 2014, the oversized sweater, and wear over leather. On the other hand, you could do the opposite, and curtail length with a cropped version.

The fuzzy look was just made for denim. Furry or fuzzy coats and jackets with skinnies, ripped or not, or a mini, or balance a mega-fluffy top with cuffed jeans. This trend harks back to pre-millennium, so you might like to incorporate it with another nineties returner, the grunge look. Try it in all black. Travel back in time once more to neons, and you’ll feel a smidgeon of nostalgia at the sight of Balmain’s long-napped orange contribution to the update.

If the fuzzy look is good enough for Rihanna, who was spotted in a fuzzy sweater on a cool New York evening, while toting an outsize knitted bag, we’re certainly not going to argue!

TGIF

TGIF
I’m loving the winter collection from Free People top, especially this top. It’s the perfect length and can transition nicely into spring and summer with white jeans or shorts. The Ray-Ban sunglasses came for Christmas this year from my sister (thanks Amy!). The color is so much fun and one I haven’t seen around a ton. Have a great weekend and see you all next week!

Awear Coat / Tuscany Travel

Awear Coat / Tuscany Travel
Our last two stops in Tuscany were Pisa and Lucca. We got on the road from Siena early in the morning to try and fit in both destinations in one day and take advantage of as much daytime light as possible. When we got to Pisa, we went straight to the leaning tower and were giggling at how funny everyone looked while trying to take their pictures. We then proceeded to do those same ridiculous poses and had no shame, we had to get the picture of course! We’re in ITALY! We didn’t explore much of the town, but we stopped for some delicious pizza before hitting the road again. Lucca has been on our list of cities to visit ever since we went on our honeymoon to Italy in 2012. We didn’t get the chance back then, so we made it a priority this time around. It’s such a gem and I highly recommend visiting if you’re planning a trip to Italy. The town itself is full of character, amazing food, shops and history. One of my favorite parts of Lucca is that you can rent bicycles and ride them around the wall of the city, making for a great way to see as much as possible.

I wanted to stay comfortable and warm for a long day outside, so I reached for my old faux fur leopard coat. It’s one of the most fun pieces I have in my closet and I really don’t wear it as much as I’d like to. Since it makes such a statement, I paired it with a simple look including a dark denim shirt, black coated skinny jeans and my old J.Crew boots.

Winter White and Red

Winter White and Red
Today I am wearing a new favorite jacket of mine from Lands’ End. My favorite color this season is winter white, so I instantly fell in love with this one. It is incredibly functional because it is light enough to wear with a sweater but can also act as a blazer. Perfect! Be sure to check out their other jacket selections here. Have a wonderful day!

SEQUINED IN SAN DIEGO

SEQUINED IN SAN DIEGO
Good morning, Everyone! Emil and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas! We hope joy and happiness snow on you, may all your days be merry and may Santa be extra good to you! :)

This year, Emil and I were hoping for a white Christmas, and kept going back and forth as to where we should spend the Holidays. Unfortunately, our travel plans fell through last minute and since we couldn't possibly have a white Christmas in LA, we figured a warm and sunny Christmas is basically just as good:) Rather than staying home, we decided to rekindle our somewhat unofficial tradition of spending Christmas visiting places we love the most. So, we packed our bags and headed down to San Diego.
And let me tell you, after a few cold and rainy weeks in LA, seeing sun shine again, is exactly what we needed! The weather here is just perfect! Warm and sunny during the day, yet slightly cool in the evening. Honestly, we couldn't imagine a better place to spend Christmas, in fact, we love it so much here, we decided to make Christmas in San Diego a yearly tradition!

What about you guys, where are you spending Christmas?

Downtown

Downtown
Drawing from yesterday’s post, today’s look is based around some of my favorite and most-worn pieces including my Max Mara black coat, Sam Edelman booties (these are the best- I have them in multiple colors!) and leopard Clare Vivier clutch. I wore a similar combination of this camel and black look a few months ago when I first got this Free People  Sweater (the camel one under the black coat). It’s a great in-between piece as it looks more like a coat, but made of a thinner sweater material, making it perfect to layer under heavier coat on those cooler days. With so many travels recently, I haven’t been home for more than a week at a time, but it seems like San Francisco got extra cold while I was gone. It felt good to cuddle up on the couch, stock up on my favorite snacks and binge watch Homeland. I’m now off on another project, which I’ll be sharing more on soon! xx
