WEDDING HAIR WEEK: High Curly Bun

WEDDING HAIR WEEK: High Curly Bun
This full curly bun is such a glamorous statement, and even though it's a bun, no part of it says casual in any way. Between all that volume and those big curls, it has fancy shmancy written all over it.haha When you look up wedding styles guaranteed there will be a version of this at the top of the list because it's such a classic, beautiful look, and it will never go out of style! Lets get on with it:)
I love this style because it's the prefect opportunity for someone like me with thin hair to make it look really big up on my head! It's also not only for weddings or proms remember but would be awesome for any night out or dressy event of any kind:) Also remember that if you have short hair you'll really want to add in some extensions so you can get the fullness out of the bun, but also it'll help to tease the curls a bit before rolling them around your finger and pinning them into the bun. And you should be all set!

Thanks for stoppin' by, and I hoep you have a great day!

BORROWED FROM THE BOYS

BORROWED FROM THE BOYS
Good morning and happy almost weekend, Everyone! I am excited to share yet another post from my year-long collaboration with Nordstrom Rack as part of their year-long campaign. Now, if you read my blog on regular basis, you know how I feel about blazers, and menswear inspired ones in particular. So, I decided to create a borrowed-from-the-boys look based on one of my favorite combinations - a blazer and leather pants. To highlight the menswear inspired vibe of the look, I chose to pair the blazer with a white button-down and a skinny tie. I then added a pair of strappy heels and layered gold jewelry, for just a hint of femininity. And voila! All done! :)

Bobeau cardigan + Stuart Weitzman boots

Bobeau cardigan + Stuart Weitzman boots

I've gotten a few questions on what to wear while casually at home, such as this from anonymous: "I have trouble finding something to wear at home and not look sloppy...if you could do a post on different outfit ideas for lounging at home, that would be great." For me, home is a safe place to "let go," and 90% of the time I'm roaming around in full pajama sets or Nick's over-sized tees. If there's anyone other than us then I usually spare their eyes and simply pair a longer top or tunic sweater over leggings. For chillier days, this Bobeau fleece as an added layer is perfect for staying super comfy but still looking put-together.I also love to layer the fleece under other jackets for insulation, plus the added dimension of the drape front. Here's this Blank NYC faux-leather jacket again which runs on the smaller side

H&M Black and White Tweed Skirt

H&M Black and White Tweed Skirt
It's hard for me to talk about tweed without thinking of Coco Chanel, who pioneered the iconic tweed suit for women. Since Chanel clothing is quite far out of my price range, I'm always on the lookout for affordable pieces that embody CC-inspired details. Tweed, quilting, pearls, satin bows, camelia flowers, chain hardware - sigh, so elegant and timeless. I love it all!!I had a little sticker shock when I saw the price on this skirt, but it is H&M "Trend" which runs more expensive. On that note, I was truly impressed by the workmanship on this skirt - much better than anything I've ever seen in their regular department. The tweed is a tight crosshatch material (looks pretty darn similar to the snippet of Chanel tweed shown above), the skirt is fully lined with piped trim at the inside waistband, and the grossgrain ribbon trim is sturdily stitched on.
And look, if you live in Sweden, you can even order the corresponding jacket online. Wouldn't ever want to wear it together with the skirt, but wouldn't this jacket be adorable with a black or white camelia flower pin? Why do Swedes get all the fun stuff? Better Ikea selection, better H&M selection, H&M online shopping ..

While leaving the store, I was already brainstorming about how to style this skirt. Pearl necklaces and tights are an obvious must, but what kind of top? For cocktail or evening occasions, a flirty ruffled blouse would complement the classic tweed. For a cozy yet elegant look, a soft black cashmere crewneck sweater would be perfect. Too bad I don't own one - I've been on the lookout for a tiny-fitting one for ages.

While wrapped up in my thoughts, I purchased the skirt and left the store without even noticing a glaring window display at the entrance. The next day while on a tea/cofee run, my coworker and I pass by H&M as he casually points out,"Hey, that looks like something you would wear!"
I'm loving this skirt,

Colorful Knit Scarf

Colorful Knit Scarf
These photos were taken when we were in Richmond, VA for the holidays.  The weather was SO pretty {almost too pretty for this time of year}!  Andrew and I just kept walking around outside and exploring, because that's what 60 degree weather and sunny skies call for, am I right?  I am absolutely loving my new camera bag.  Andrew and I always want to take our cameras places and neither of us want to carry around the massive camera bag.  This tote allows me to easily bring my camera with me anywhere I go, and it also holds all of the other goodies that I would otherwise put in a purse.  It was definitely worth the splurge {if you're into snappin' pics on the go, of course}.
